Claire is an artist painting landscapes of the beautiful local Essex and Suffolk countryside and beyond.
Working predominantly in oils, Claire is a self taught, emerging artist with a particular love of working En Plein Air (painting from life outside) using a limited palette. Claire also works up larger pieces from studies and photographic references in the studio.

Since the Spring I have been predominantly painting outside. This is my second year practising en plein air and whilst I find every painting a challenge, I generally come away feeling like I have achieved something useful. That does not always mean I produce a successful painting, but can sometimes be a lesson learnt or just the practise required to keep the skill going. I’ve been lucky enough to find various groups – both Colchester and Dedham Art Societies who organise regular plein air meet-ups. These get you out to new places and makes a solitary hobby a little more sociable. All my new works produced this Summer are available on the plein air page.
